Spidercam is successfully integrated into a virtual studio set.
It is quite unusual – a cable suspended camera system installed in a News-Studio won’t be found often. HRT, the public broadcasting company of Croatia, relies on innovative technology at the News Studio 12 in Zagreb: Two cameras on pedestals and the new “spidercam Mini” make a prefect team working together. In addition, an Augmented-Reality-Graphic System from Vizrt and the tracking system “RedSpy” from StYpe are fully integrated into the spidercam to deliver a perfect overall experience. This installation creates new opportunities for image composition with AR and VR. HRT and the producer Croatel demonstrated how to use a Spidercam in a virtual studio set already in July 2020 when broadcasted the Croatian elections. By now the spidercam is in operation every day broadcasting three news shows, the Stand-Up-News and the weather forecast in the afternoon. A stabilized remote head from Newton Nordic is used for camera stabilization, state of the art 4K camera equipment is mounted. Some movement sequences are programmed, but the balk of the performance is realized by the work of a spidercam operator coworking with two camera operators of HRT. Missing a place for a script? Spidercam has space for additional equipment, so a tablet pc is added as a teleprompter on it, nothing is impossible.
The new version of spidercam – so called “spidercam Mini” – will be released official in 2021.
